Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. This weekend I had the honor of attending the Crossfield Rodeo. Being able to attend this event reminded me why I love where I live. I live in Calgary Alberta, but small-town living is still prevalent in our big city. In Alberta we have a very strong sense of Community, whenever a neighbor is in trouble, we all come together to help each other out. The Calgary Flood or the Fort Mac fires are examples where we came together; it felt like the entire province stopped to help those who needed it the most. Being at the Crossfield Rodeo it was inspiring to see an entire town come together to celebrate the life and Legacy of a legendary cowboy, Pete Knight, a hometown hero.
Our lives are very fast paced these days and it is important for us to take a step back and remember the little things. They are what should matter the most, like checking in on a neighbor, calling a loved one or holding the door open for another person. These small gestures are what makes a Community thrive. By taking that step back from our busy lives, we remind ourselves to be grateful that we woke up happy and healthy. Grasp the opportunity to live your best life possible day in and day out. By taking care of ourselves, we take care of each other.
This sense of Community doesn’t always have to be on a large scale. Community is also who you surround yourself with. It is proven that you display traits of the top five people closest to you. One of the people I love to spend time with is, Mayia. She is an incredible young lady and I have had the honour of watching her grow up. Being able to be a friend and spend time with Mayia, reminds me to enjoy the little things and have fun.
Finally, a big thank you to the Miss World Canada organization for giving me this incredible opportunity to have a platform, I am so excited to spread the message of Community from my beautiful Province of Alberta to a National and International level. Spreading the message of Community is about spreading love and kindness to everyone in your life and being able to learn something from everyone you meet.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
